Jason Nitschke joined NewsChannel 5 as Sports Director in 2004. Jason has overseen the growth of NewsChannel 5's Friday night sports show, "The Frenzy." Touted as the "Most Comprehensive Sports Show in the State," The Frenzy provides high school, college, and professional highlights, while previewing collegiate action in the Big Sky and Frontier conferences.

He is a 1997 graduate of the University of Montana School of Journalism. He also earned a master's degree in communication from Hawaii Pacific University.

As a newspaper and magazine photographer in Salt Lake City and Denver, Jason covered national news events such as the Columbine High School massacre and the JonBenet Ramsey murder investigation. He moved from print to broadcast in 2000, joining the news team at KGMB in Honolulu as a news editor. He also interned at KSSK News Radio in Honolulu. Nitschke later moved to the front of the camera, becoming KGMB's weekend sports anchor.

A native of Great Falls, Montana, Jason moved back to the mainland in late 2003 for a year-long stop at KMVT in Twin Falls, Idaho before returning to his hometown of Great Falls.
