Great Falls Passes Social Host Ordinance

Story Updated: Sep 14, 2011

The Great Falls City Commission passes an ordinance punishing people who host underage drinking parties. The law will punish those who knowingly distribute alcohol to underage drinkers. Many landlords spoke out about the ordinance. They said the wording was too broad and that they could be cited so the city made some changes to the ordinance. The Cascade County DUI task force says there were 600 MIP’s in Great Falls over the past year and this ordinance will help address the problem. A first time offender will receive a fine, while someone with a second offense will be looking at jail time.
