Great Falls Experts Warn of Deadly Radon Gas

By KFBB News Team

Radon forms naturally as uranium breaks down in soil and is found in nearly every state, with higher concentrations in the north. It enters the home through cracks in the foundation and builds up and the Environmental Protection Agency warns that exposure to radon levels above four picocuries can cause cancer.

Homeowners concerned about radon gas can test for it in one of two ways...either have it professionally done or pick up a kit at the county health department. it costs twenty bucks, but that includes the laboratory fees. If radon levels above four picocuries are found, the e-p-a recommends remediating the problems and local real estate agents say it costs about fifteen hundred dollars to remediate a radon problem in the average home, a fix that is well worth the cost.
