WINTER STORM WARNINGS AND ADVISORIES FOR CENTRAL MONTANA

By KFBB News Team

The National Weather Service in Great Falls has upgraded the Winter Storm Watch issued yesterday to a combination of WINTER STORM WARNING and WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY. NWS-Glasgow has upgraded their Winter Storm Watch to a Winter Storm Warning as well.

Both take effect around noon today and last through Sunday morning (Great Falls area) and Sunday night (Glasgow area).

Areas of impact:
Great Falls - up to 10" of snow
Southern Rocky Mountain Front - 4 to 8"
Northern Rocky Mountain Front - 3 to 5"
Helena Valley - Up to 8"
Havre/Lewistown and Northeast: 10 to 20"
The Belts and the mountains of southwest Montana: up to 2 feet.

By Saturday, strong northwesterly winds are expected to develop across the area, which is likely to cause blowing and drifting of snow in Central Montana while near Blizzard conditions develop around the Glasgow area and points east. Travel will likely become very treacherous by Saturday afternoon.
