Flashback Friday: Last Flights at Malmstrom (December 31,1996)

Malmstrom Air Force Base has been a major part of our community since the 1940's, and during that time it has gone through several transformations.

One of the biggest changes happened on New Year’s Day 1997, when the runway was decommissioned for good. Malmstrom's air traffic control tower was leveled shortly after the runway was closed.

NewsChannel 5's Wendy Gillette filed this report on December 31st, 1996, as the final flights at Malmstrom were underway.
