Company To Pay Twice as Much for Camelina, Processing Plant Planned

By KFBB News Team

With so much money to be made growing wheat crops right now, it might be hard to convince farmers to grow other crops- but that's exactly what Senator Jon Tester is trying to do. At a press conference along side Sam Huttenbauer of Great Plains- a renewable fuel company- he announced that up to 9 dollars per bushel would be paid for camelina crops. That’s double what was paid last year and Huttenbauer says will have a return equivalent to or better than wheat. Camelina is a plant in the mustard family that can be used to make biodiesel fuel. They also announced plans to open a biodiseal processing facility this year in Montana, which would create many new jobs and bring 20 million dollars into the economy. They hope to have 5 to 10 million gallons of fuel ready for use in all cars by next year. To do this, their goal is to have Montana farmers planting the crop with in the next month. if you would like more information you can call their toll free number at 877- 922-6645 or go to www.camelinacompany.com.

GF may double parking meter fees from 25 to 50 cents an hour. What do you think?

  • They need the money & I can afford it.
  • Another reason for me not to shop downtown.
  • A smaller increase will keep me shopping downtown.
  • Toss the meters, parking should be free.
