Growing Grain

By Felicia Caime

Montana Milling, a commercial and organic grain mill, is building a new processing plant in Black Eagle. The demand for organic processed grain has increased about 20% per year for the last 10 years. Since the company cannot keep up with the grow, they are constructing a new facility that will double it's processing capacity.

"We're just definitely a value added business for Montana farmers and for the Montana agriculture. We're a specialty business but the demand for that is really growing."

Construction of the new 18,000-square-foot warehouse started in the fall of last year and will be completed in time for the new crop this September. Montana Milling will still operate the original processing plant in Conrad.
