Fire Behind Chief Joseph School

By KFBB News Team

It took 25 firefighters to knock down a blaze behind the Chief Joseph School at the edge of Great Falls. Units from Great Falls, San Coulee, and Black Eagle had control over the flames in less than half an hour. It consumed about an acre of brush behind the elementary school, but it was the third fire at that location in the last year. We’re told it's a popular paintball area and that kids were playing there at the time the fire started. Incident Commander Jerry Daugett who spotted the fire while on his way home says it was very manageable due to fairly low winds. He warns that people need to be extra careful, as it is now the beginning of fire season. The sheriff's office is investigating the incident.
