Fire Season Underway, Crews Put Out Fire Near Simms

By KFBB News Team

Fire season is just beginning in Montana, and area crews were kept busy on Tuesday (3/25).

Officials say a controlled burn near Simms quickly got out of control and four area fire crews were forced to respond. They say high winds turned the planned 50-acre burn into a fast-moving fire that devoured between 200 and 300 acres.

At around 5 p.m. Incident Commander of the Cascade F.D. said he was confident the blaze was contained.

Firefighters from Cascade, Ulm, Simms, and Fort Shaw responded to the fire.
