Part of the Frontage Road in Vaughn was shut down after an Air Force humvee caught fire.
While on a routine security patrol the Air Force vehicle suddenly shut off and started to smoke. Trained in emergency procedures, the three airmen inside evacuated themselves and closed off the road to civilians. Lt. Justin Brockoff says he's thankful for the help they received from the Gore Hill and Vaughn fire departments. He added, “Malmstrom’s missle complex is 23,500 miles across Montana and as such security is a huge part of what we do here everyday, one big thing we rely on is our relationship with the local communities in times of need." No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed back to the base where an investigation is being conducted.
