GF School Levy Vote Fails

By KFBB News Team

By a narrow margin, Great Falls voters defeated an effort by the school district to increase the levy to fund city schools.

Thirty-one thousand ballots were mailed to voters and around 18-thousand were returned. The levy amount was $2.71 million.

Before the vote, officials said if it failed, they'd have to combine AP classes and layoff some teachers as well as make other adjustments.

The final tally: High School / For 9035 Against 9387
Elementary For 9129 Against 9262
