Ringing in a New Era: Cell Phones Only

Tools

By KFBB News Team

According to new federal statistics more people are getting rid of their home phones and are using cell phones only. The numbers say about three in ten families get the majority of their calls on cell phones only. Many of those surveyed don't even have landlines. About a third of people under the age of 30 use cell-phones only. Low-income individuals are also more likely to have just cell phones. But a lot of people want to keep their home number and have the convenience of a mobile phone. According to Sean Howard with HB Wireless that's now possible. He told us “people are taking their landlines and putting them over because we can put it into a cell phone.” The trend is especially important this election year to pollsters, which rely on calls to random landline phone numbers. Federal law forbids unsolicited calls to cell phones made by computerized dialing systems.
