Officials Given a Rare Look Inside Live Missile Alert Facility

By KFBB News Team

Elected officials from Lewistown, Stanford, and Fergus County had a rare opportunity Friday (6/13), to see what goes on behind the scenes at a live missile alert facility.

The 490th Missile Squadron held an open house, to give members of the public a peek at what goes on at the highly secure installations.

The visit included a tour of helicopter security forces, missile maintenance equipment, and a look inside the command capsule.

"Folks drive by them every day and don't really have an idea of what they are," said Lt. Korry Leverett, a spokesman for Malmstrom Air Force Base. "It gives them an opportunity to see each of these airmen and their day to day tasks.
