One Man's Quest to Find Out More About the Planned Highwood Generating Station

By KFBB News Team

As the City of Great Falls continues to take a second look at its involvement in the planned coal-fired Highwood Generating Station, one Great Falls man has been on a quest for nearly two-years to find out more information about the city's relationship with the developer, Southern Montana Electric.

A local attorney and the creator of the Electric City Weblog, Gregg Smith, has made numerous Freedom of Information Act Requests and questioned city leaders to find information he says should be made public. But he says his efforts haven't been very successful.

"The most recent thing I've been trying to figure out is how Southern Montana Electric and the City of Great Falls plan to finance this 780-800 million dollar project," said Smith. "That information is said to be confidential and a trade secret."
