Malmstrom Officially Re-Designated 341st Missile Wing

Airmen at Malmstrom Air Force Base are now officially members of the 341st Missile Wing again.

In order to re-emphasize the importance and unique mission of the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile force, the wing was returned to the name it used from 1992-1997 at a ceremony Tuesday (7/1). The base's commander says the new name will make their mission clear.

"There will be no doubt in anyone's mind now about what this wing does," said Col. Michael Fortney. "We operate missiles."

The 90th Space Wing at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Wyoming and the 91st Space Wing at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota were also re-designated missile wings at ceremonies on Tuesday (7/1).
