Citizens Want Highwood Documents from Great Falls

By KFBB News Team

The Montana Environmental Information Center learned they won a lawsuit against Great Falls yesterday making all of the city's documents about the proposed Highwood Generating Station available to the public. This morning, with court order in hand, MEIC and Citizen's for Clean Energy went to the city clerk's office asking for a list of things they were denied access to in the past. Their list included all drafts, e-mails, memos or other documents between Southern Montana Electric, PPL and the city of Great Falls. City Clerk Lisa Kuntz took the order with out handing over anything and said she would get back to them. The team says they expected that. They say their going after the documents because the city has been secretive and the public should know everything about Highwood. We called City Attorney Dave Gilko for comment and received a fax in response saying there will be two meetings about the lawsuit. The first will be a special commission meeting on Wednesday at 3pm. It will be at the City Commission Chambers on the 2nd floor of Civic Center. The second will be a general discussion meeting on Monday, July 28th at 10:30am. That one will be in the Gibson Room on the 2nd floor of the Civic Center.

GF may double parking meter fees from 25 to 50 cents an hour. What do you think?

  • They need the money & I can afford it.
  • Another reason for me not to shop downtown.
  • A smaller increase will keep me shopping downtown.
  • Toss the meters, parking should be free.
