Family and Friends gathered today(8/8) to say their final goodbye to a Fairfield man who died serving his country in Iraq. Sgt. Jimmy McHale was remembered during a funeral mass at the Fairfield High School gym. Sgt. McHale gave up his life for others and it was that kind of dedication that ultimately earned him a bronze medal and purple heart. Sgt. McHale was in a coma for more than a week after a roadside bomb exploded next to his humvee during a mission in Iraq. His family took him off life support after donating his organs, which will now keep eight other people alive. He was buried today at Sunset Hills Cemetery.
