Today (Monday August 25th, 2008), members of Great Falls Emergency Medical Services practiced with her to prepare for real medical emergencies. Stacy Handley a nurse practitioner with St. Vincent Healthcare Pediatrics Unit said “We just don't see a lot of pediatric traumas or emergency situations but when we do it's a critical situation for everybody involved." Jerry Lyons, GFES Paramedic added that in today’s training "You can make mistakes and learn from them.” The mannequin is the latest in technology and costs $50,000. Simone and members of the St. Vincent Healthcare Pediatrics Unit from Billings have been traveling the state since December to help train local health care providers. Right now they are concentrating on the central part of the state. Simone was also in Fort Benton this afternoon and will be in Big Sandy tomorrow.
