With temperatures dropping and winter growing near, the Great Falls Rescue Mission is expecting to be busier than ever. Since the beginning of the year they've seen a 15% increase in the number of people walking through their doors and 7% of that has been in August alone. Right now 66 people are housed at the shelter including 16 kids. Already play rooms are being converted to bed rooms because they won't turn anyone away no matter how many people come to them for help. Eric Berger, Executive Director of the mission said, "we'll expect that we'll have more people but also the people we have currently, having them get into an apartment when utility costs are higher is probably going to be harder to get people out of the rescue mission into permanent housing with the expenses raising." We’re told the average stay for a woman with children is six months. If you would like to help the shelter get ready for winter they need financial and clothing donations. Their coat drive is going on now. You can drop off winter clothes at the mission. They need everything from hats to gloves to jackets. They also need volunteers.
