Dems Sue Over Republican Challenge

Will your vote count? Thousands of registered voters in the state are having their eligibility to do so challenged. Last week we reported the Republican Party is challenging the eligibility of 6,000 voters in our state. The move affects those registered to vote in Missoula, Butte-Silver Bow, Lewis and Clark, Deerlodge, Glacier and Hill counties. All of these counties have historically been democratic strongholds. The republicans want everyone who's filled out a change-of-address card in the past 18 months to verify their correct address before the election. Democrats are calling it a desperate attempt to keep voters away from the polls and filed a lawsuit today (9/6). The republican party declined to speak to us on camera about the lawsuit but did release this statement: "Around 4 o'clock this afternoon, we were served with a legal brief filed today by lawyers working on behalf of Sen. Barack Obama and the Montana Democrat Party. We have referred the matter to our attorney, Lance Lovell, who will respond as appropriate to the legal filings."
