A Great Falls man is charged with assault with a weapon after allegedly using a broom to beat his girlfriend. Cascade County District Court Judge Dirk Sandefur told defendant John Miller according to Montana law any object can be classified as a weapon depending on how it is used. Miller told the court he came home and found his girlfriend in bed with another man and he snapped. She denies his claim. Besides hitting her with the broom, court papers say Miller broke her finger by taking a ring off of it. He was previously convicted of assault in Illinois before moving to Montana. His bond is set at $50,000.
