Great Falls Bishop Goes to Middle East on Peace Mission

As world leaders push for truce in the Middle East, one Great Falls woman is on her way to the region hoping to aid in the peace process. Today (1/5), Israeli forces have been attacking homes, mosques and smuggling tunnels in Gaza. Meanwhile, Hamas militants have been fighting back targeting Israel with rockets. More than 500 people have died in the last nine days. Lutheran Bishop Jessica Crist of Great Falls left Montana this morning to meet up with 43 other bishops from around the United States and Canada on their way to Israel and Palestine. "The purpose of the bishops going is to be a witness for peace” she told News Channel 5. Crist also says she understands the risk of entering a war zone but that she must stand up for peace as a leader in her church. Israel has effectively sliced Gaza in half, after seizing the main highway. The Israeli military says its forces are prepared for urban warfare if it's needed.
