UM-Helena Offers Tuition Discount to the Unemployed

Helena’s workforce could see a boost in the near future. The University of Montana- Helena College of Technology has just offered a 50% tuition waiver for the upcoming spring semester for individuals who have recently lost their jobs. In today’s tough economic climate, it is no secret that unemployment rates have been soaring to record high levels. Traditionally, Montana’s unemployment rate remains below the national average, but these days, no state is immune to the record number of job losses being seen across the country. Helena is no exception. Beginning on January 13th, individuals meeting the eligibility requirements will have the chance to register for courses at UM-Helena at the discounted rate. These students can learn new skills that will help them reenter the workforce. To prove eligibility, an individual must provide a copy of a company layoff notice or proof of unemployment insurance benefits. The university offers a wide variety of programs, including Accounting, Automotive Technology, Business Technology, Computers, plus much more. UM Helena’s spring semester classes will begin on January 20th.
