Name of Victim in Boulder Shooting Released

By The Associated Press

Authorities released the name of an East Helena man killed Friday by police.

The Jefferson County Sheriff says Deputy Tom Grimsrud and Montana
Highway Patrol Trooper Dave Gleich both fired rounds in the encounter that killed 46-year-old Douglas Charles Morrison. Both officers are on paid administrative leave pending an investigation in the shooting.

The two had responded to a call that Morrison was intoxicated and suicidal on Friday evening and found him on the rutted mountain road of
Boomerang Gulch.

Police say Morrison started walking around and shooting off rounds with a colt .45-caliber revolver in the direction of the patrol vehicles.
