The U.S. Border Patrol announced today that one suspect is in custody after being arrested on drug charges at the Amtrak train station in Havre. The 28-year-old male was caught with more than $10,000 worth of marijuana and hashish.

Border Patrol agents and a canine were conducting a routine transportation check on Wednesday, when they discovered a piece of luggage, containing nearly three pounds of marijuana. The street value is estimated at nearly $2,400.

Amtrak workers later found a second piece of luggage, containing seven ounces of hashish. This was valued at nearly $9,000
The suspect was turned over to the Tri-County Agency Task Force and booked into the Hill County Detention Facility.

It's sad to see someone so stupid as to ruin their life over Marijuana...knowing precisely what the penalties are. However..greed knows no limits!

Ted, why would you want to ruin someones life over a beer, wait, I mean cannabis? Are you talking about the greed of rich businessmen and politicians (Hearst/Dupont)? Cannabis isn't illegal because it's a killer drug. Opium is a killer drug and it's scheduled as a lesser danger than cannabis. So why exactly are there penalties on cannabis? How many die each year from cannabis? The harm from cannabis stems from prohibition not from any dangers from using cannabis.

Once a person has a criminal conviction on their record, they are far less likely to find a good job and become a useful member of society. Other countries with more liberal drug laws have much lower rates of drug addiction among their people.
