How Are Montana's Stimulus Dollars Being Spent?

By KFBB News Team

On Wednesday at the Capitol, Governor Schweitzer announced results of the first month of reporting for Montana’s share of stimulus dollars.

The funding allocation passed by the Legislature was originally signed by the governor on May 15th. The updated website includes an interactive county map that allows visitors to click on each one of Montana’s 56 counties for a breakdown of funding into eight categories.

It also provides a summary of the Montana Reinvestment Act, and links to each state agency that received funding. In addition, the site incorporates an energy home improvement tax calculator for homeowners to discover how much tax credit they can receive for home energy conservation improvements.

The goal of the monthly reporting is to increase transparency and accountability.

Governor Schweitzer explains, “It will allow every Montanan to see where every nickel is spent, and exactly how much benefit we get.”
