Over 30,000 people are expected to attend The Gateway to Freedom Air Show, which will take place in Helena this weekend.

The air show will feature premier demonstration teams performing in the skies over the Queen City. Headline participants include the U.S. Airforce “Thunderbirds” as well as the U.S. Army Parachute Team, the “Golden Knights.”

The event will showcase numerous aircraft and tactical vehicles used by both the Army and Air National Guard units in Montana and the United States military. In addition, many live demonstrations will be incorporated into the program.

The air show is part of a military open house, hosted by the Montana National Guard and Reserve Units assigned to Fort Harrison, making this event free to the public.

Kathy Linton, Deputy Director for the air show, explains, “People should come to the air show because first of all, it's fun, free entertainment for your family. It's also a military open house, so it showcases all of the military members in Montana."

The Air Show will take place at the Army Aviation Support Facility in Helena this Saturday (6/27) and Sunday (6/28). Gates open at 9:00 a.m.
