Save A Life Tour Teaches the Dangers of Drinking and Driving at Malmstrom

By KFBB News Team

Ahead of the holiday weekend airmen at Malmstrom Air Force Base are getting a powerful message about driving under the influence.

The Save a Life Tour has stopped at Malmstrom and will educate more than 2,100 airmen over three days about the dangers of getting behind the wheel after drinking. The tour brings a shocking approach to alcohol awareness with a tragic video, personal stories by those affected, and a sobering drinking and driving simulator.

The program is targeted at airmen under the age of 26 and is mandatory for a large number of the base's enlisted population.

"At Malmstrom we have the youngest airmen population in the Air Force," Said CMSgt Cari Kent. "It's typically that age group that gets DUIs because they think they're invincible. It's important for our airmen to understand that they can drink but they shouldn't drive afterwards."

The base also offers free rides home to those who have had too much to drink with no questions asked.
