I'm sure KRTV has never made any mistakes before. I would think you would be smart enough to know that if you use the internet at a business it's pretty easy to trace the ip back there, lol.

I used google with her name, which gave up her old comments on friends pages, she changed the user name on her account later and so I just put 2 and 2 together..Pretty sure this is hers. Myspace.com/skrunk

Has anyone thought to check her myspace page? She has one, The police could learn alot about her activities through her messages blogs and status updates. She was so pretty too.

Decapitated is a powerful word. However, if that is what happened then by all means it should be posted in the NEWS. Since when is news suposed to be anything other than facts and current events? Why would somone have to change the news to appease some people and their sensitivity?

Anonymous is afraid of posting a name. It may even be the same person, you can post anything to this site. I appreciate the information. I listened to this on the scanner last night when I got off work at the bar. My simpathy to the family. I hope they get the first driver.

The fact remains, is that the journalists were doing their jobs reporting the facts that were reported to them by the Highway Patrol. It is very sad what happened to this woman and indeed my heart goes out to the family. But once you start banning media, you start taking away pieces of everyones rights. The word decapitated is not meant to be a "disgusting" word, it is a medical term. BTW it appears that KFBB did rescind the headline and made it more informal.

I completely disagree. I don't think it adds anything to the story. You can say someone was raped without going into all the the sordid details. It doesn't change the facts of the story and how horrible the event was. The same holds true here, athough as it turns out, that fact was incorrect in the first place. It's disgusting this is what modern journalism has become.

Tatjanna said on Wednesday, Jul 1 at 4:57 PM

It's apparent that some do not know what journalism, actually entails. Who, what, why, when where and how.Adding the decapitation to the story makes sense. 1) perhaps someone did not realize the extent of what they did and will feel remorse and come forward. Also, when decapitation was finally mentioned at court hearings the "general public" would be complaining that they didn't get the whole story. While news is based on the facts, it is also based on what the general public wants to know.

guys, they're just reporting the facts that they have. At least we know what's going on!

anonymous said on Wednesday, Jul 1 at 2:05 PM

if you are going to use such shocking and horrible information in your headline you could at least make sure it's TRUE.

anonymous said on Wednesday, Jul 1 at 2:04 PM

CHECK YOUR FACTS.

KRTV and the Tribune both left decapitated out of their articles.....At least they have some courtesy

So...Phill Reeves.....Were you a witness

Anonymous said on Wednesday, Jul 1 at 1:23 PM

Does decapitated really add anything to the story? To me, it seems like complete sensationalism, especially in a headline. Saying she was killed would have told the story. I'm glad to see that sensitivity in the news business is long gone.

The very first paragraph say's the source was the Montana Highway Patrol.

Hmmm...does KFBB have a SOURCE for the statement that the poor woman was "decapitated?"

phil reeves said on Wednesday, Jul 1 at 12:23 PM

it had to happen. people were driving too fast and the poor woman couldn't get out of the way.

SICKOFBADNEWS said on Wednesday, Jul 1 at 12:11 PM

It truly disgusts me that someone would drive off after hitting/decapitating a pedestrian.

Your headline is disgusting - using the word "decapitate" in the headline in despicable and insensitive.
