Highway Patrol: Just a Matter of Time Until Arrest in Fatal Hit and Run Collision

By KFBB News Team

The Montana Highway Patrol and the Cascade County Sheriff's Department say it's just a matter of time until they have identified the driver and made an arrest after a hit and run accident that left a 21-year-old woman dead in Wednesday's (7/1) early hours.

The patrol says the joint investigation has uncovered pieces of the vehicle involved in the fatal collision which they say will ultimately lead them to the driver who struck and killed Sasha Holt just before 1 a.m. on Fox Farm Road.

Authorities say those parts are being taken to local car dealers and body shops to help identify the make and model of the vehicle. Fibers from the victim's clothes are also being sent to the Montana Crime Lab in Missoula to help identify the color of the vehicle. Trooper Vern Wise says authorities will then be able to identify the driver using the vehicle registration database.

Wise also had some simple advice for the driver who remains at large.

"To the individual that did this, it would be best if you turn yourself in before matters get worse."

The highway patrol also revealed that the victim's body was struck by a second vehicle less than a minute after the fatal collision and that they have uncovered a witness to the accident which occurred less than 250 yards from a party the victim had attended.

Wise says the victim had only been living in Great Falls for about two weeks before her death.
