Yesterday (7/4) was a day of celebration for millions of people across the country but the night ended in tragedy for three Great Falls Residents. A massive fire at the River's Edge Park - - a mobile home complex on the southwest side left them homeless. Yesterday evening, there was a party at Unit 16 in the complex. After the host went to bed, one of his friend's went to a nearby bar. When the friend returned to the trailer around 2AM, he saw flames. Sherri Tetzlaff, who lives in the mobile home next-door said, "Well he opened up the front door, the flames just went out and so he couldn't go in the front door so he went to the bedroom… and pulled him out of the window and then they were over here screaming help us, help me help me." The resident received medical treatment on the scene but was not taken to the hospital. The two other residents of the unit were out of town celebrating the holiday. The whereabouts of the family dog is unknown though it's believed he may have been lost in the fire. The home is a total loss. Debris from fireworks were found in the yard but neighbors say power in the area went out a few hours before the fire and that an unattended candle could have started the blaze. The fire department is investigating and hopes to determine to cause of the fire by tomorrow (7/6).

One more thing. When my children were growing up in Conrad, this same room mate burned his mother's house down. I do not remember what year. It was approximately 94,95, 96, somewhere in that area, or I could be completely off, but not too far off. How lucky is that, that my son asked Donnie 2 months ago to be out by sept., my son and his girlfriend were out of town. The dog is out of town. Its the 4th of July, and the house burns down. Seems a bit suspicious to me. Any questions, 406-558-9075

My son is the person who leases the mobile home. His girlfriend just moved in with him after graduation in May. They were camping at Ft. Peck for the weekend. His room mate that he gave 2 months notice to move out is the one who was there when the fire broke out. The family dog Hooch is fine, by the way, and well staying with Kris' dad in Brady. It was probably the room mates dog "Sadis" a 6 or 7 month old pit bull puppy that most likely died in that fire. I'm just glad that my family is ok.
