The Car Allowance Rebate System, also known as the Cash for Clunkers bill, is suppose to get old, gas guzzling vehicles off the road. But does it hurt or help the car industry?

Cars or trucks that make less than 18 miles per gallon can be traded in for up to $4500. The trade in rebate must go toward a new, more fuel efficient vehicle.

One Great Galls dealership is worried that the Cash for Clunkers program will only help foreign automakers.

However, Bennett Motors and Bison Ford are confident the program is good for all new car dealers and Montana consumers.

"I think it will increase business by quite a bit and taking some of the cars of the road that should be off the road," says Dave Krebbs, general sales manager of Bennett Motors.

The Cash for Clunkers rebate program runs from July 1st until November 1st.

However, there may be a few early glitches with the program because official regulations won't be released until July 24th.
