ETIC Committee Reviews Governor's Energy Policy

By KFBB News Team

The Governor’s Chief Business Development Officer Evan Barrett emphasized three P’s to the Governor’s policy: Planning, Policies and Projects. He stated the goals are to focus on renewable clean energy, clean coal technology, and availability and affordability of energy resources. Barrett said once the Signal Peak Coal Mine opens Montana will have seen a thirty-five percent increase in Montana coal production since 2004. Barrett adds, “The Governor’s perspective is to take advantage of all of our energy advantages. We have a lot we’ll talk about. But to not just cherry pick one or two but to look at all the possibilities. To do it right and that is to have quality jobs but do it in a way that maintains a quality of life.”

Barrett also stated Montana has seen a forty percent increase in oil production growth. Meaning we have seen more growth in oil production than any other state.
