Health Care Campaign Touring Montana

A bill to overhaul the nation's health care system is making its way through congress and one democratic organization is touring Montana hoping to gain support. Great Falls was the first stop of a two-week, 23 city tour of Montana for “Montana Change the Works.” Organizers talked to state fair-goers as they took their blood pressure and offered other free health screenings. They're encouraging people to write to their representatives to ask for affordable health care for every man, woman and child. Right now, 45 million people in the United States don't have health insurance. The group says many people are cutting back on health care screenings trying to save money and that is dangerous. Jennifer Hensley with the Change That Works Campaign said, “People are literally dying because they don't have access to the phenomenal health care that we have here in the United States- it's not affordable, it's not accessible...we can do better as a country.” The campaign will visit Conrad, Big Sandy – Chester, Havre and Malta in the days to come.
