Winter Wheat Harvest Damaged by Severe Storms

Farms west of Lewistown are trying to save their crops.

Severe storms ripped through the area Thursday evening, damaging crops waiting to be harvested.

The worst line of the storms hit between Fergus and Meagher counties.

The storm had gusts up to 60 miles per hour, and dumped almost 3 inches of rain.

Hail also pounded fields for 40 minutes, damaging the winter wheat and barley crops.

For many producers, the wheat harvest has been stalled by this past week's wet and unseasonably cold weather.
