The Hi-Line communities have a reason to celebrate.

After 2 years of planning, the free North Central Montana Transit System officially opened its doors.

Eleven people hopped on board the inaugural trip today. Transit Director Jim Lyons hopes the system will grow to serve even more people.

During today's cook-off celebration, the system's organizer thanked everyone for the help and support.

The new bus line runs between Havre, Harlem , Chinook, Rocky Boy, Box Elder, and, Fort Belknap.

Twice a week the bus will run into Great Falls.

For the many area residents who lack reliable transportation, the buses will be a lifesaver.

And even though some never plan to step aboard , today's supporters were thrilled to see the buses roll.
