Mom Who Let Daughter Drive to Daycare Won't Go to Jail

By KFBB News Team

The Vaughn mom accused of letting her 12-year-old daughter drive three other children to daycare won't be going to jail.

On Thursday Angela Parenteau entered a no contest plea to one count of criminal endangerment and one count of allowing an unauthorized minor to operate a motor vehicle. Three other criminal endangerment charges were dropped under a plea agreement.

Officers say back in March Parenteau allowed her 12-year-old daughter to drive three younger siblings from their home in Vaughn to a daycare in Great Falls. Police say Parenteau later claimed she was too sick to drive and on medication.

The state said they agreed to the plea deal because the 12-year-old girl did not want to testify against her mom.

Although Parenteau received no jail time, she will have to pay nearly one thousand dollars in fines.

I guess she could have her kid drive her to jail.

If the woman is at home sick then why does she need to send her kids to daycare?Probably because the welfare is paying for it.

I suspect the 12-year-old girl had driven before. She clearly knew how to drive and had most likely taken her siblings to daycare often.. She was just unlucky. The girl just hasn't been caught before!

This is wrong, just plain wrong. How dare the system allow a drug addicted adult to even have those children yet alone make such a poor judgement for the children. Not only should she be doing some jail time, she should be seeing a professional for so many problems she obviously has.Once again I'm very disappointed in the legal system, and they should be ashamed. It's wrong, wrong, wrong.

Even with a legal license, I don't know of any 12, 13, 14, 15, or 16 year old that is responsible enough to drive a car on a street with other people on it. Sick or not, this was not a responsible move.

Where is Dad in all this?

Lindsay said on Sunday, Oct 4 at 11:13 AM

Anyone ever hear of a hardship license? Yeah, it's a license where kids as young as 13 can LEGALLY drive, which means 13 year olds are capable of driving, physically and mentally and a 12 year old isn't much different than a 13 year old.

Hey Nebraska, the woman was not responsible. And a 12 year old should not drive.Have you taken your medication today?

Rural Nebraska said on Friday, Oct 2 at 1:57 PM

There are number 12 year old capable of driving and there are number of older licensed incapable of driving. To bad, laws prohibit good judgement by the parents and penalize you adults acting responsible. The arrest is another failure example of the legislative process.

Hey ladie, can my 10 year old drive your car?

I guess the judge thought she was to sick to go to jail. She should use her welfare check and free medicaid to see a doctor.

joe said on Friday, Oct 2 at 6:32 AM

what do you mean,no jail time? She endangered the lives of those kids and every one else on the roads that day.Next time some one commits a crime just say you were on drugs.I think I will walk out of the store and not pay for my groceries and tell the judge I was sick and not feeling well.
