Great Falls Teacher Surprised with Big Check

A local teacher looking to expand online learning for his middle school students is getting a financial boost. Today (10/14) Qwest Montana surprised middle school teacher Jeff Agamenoni with a check for more than $5,500 as part of their teachers and technology program.

Agamenoni applied for the grant last spring, with the help of a friend from Australia via the internet communication program Skype.

Agamenoni had this to say after the check presentation, “I think technology can be used to connect people; not just information to kids, but kids to kids and other people, and that's what I'm going to use this grant for."

Specifically, the funds will go toward a new computer lab for students at both North and East middle schools.

Agamenoni also said the grant gives him the chance to teach 21st century skills to students who will be working in tomorrow's job market. And he says being surprised with a big check made him feel like the movie character "Happy Gilmore."
