State Ups the Charges for Former Cascade County Reserve Deputy Accused of Deadly Hit and Run

The state of Montana is upping the charges against Jason Caughey. He's the former Cascade County Reserve Deputy accused of a fatal hit and run that occurred in the Fox Farm area last July.

38-year-old Caughey is now charged with failure to remain at the scene of an accident involving death or personal injury and vehicular homicide while under the influence, with an alternate charge of negligent homicide. Caughey pleaded not guilty to all three charges, all felonies.

You may recall, first responders found 21-year-old Sasha Holt dead on Fox Farm Road just south of Great Falls.

Days after the incident, Caughey turned himself in and posted a $200,000 bond. Judge dirk Sandefur then allowed him to move to Minnesota with his family on the condition he attend all of his court hearings here in Great Falls, and those bond terms will remain the same.

Caughey's trial is scheduled for February 22nd in Judge Thomas McKittrick's court.
