A man accused of hitting a woman with a bottle while breaking into her home answered to additional charges in court Thursday.

Matthew Ortiz now faces two counts of felony assault with a weapon; in addition to three other charges including felony aggravated burglary and theft.

According to court documents, Ortiz broke into a Great Falls apartment last July and hit a woman living there over the head with an alcohol bottle, causing serious injury.

The woman's boyfriend then grabbed a sword and went after Ortiz, hitting him in the arm. Police found Ortiz at the emergency room later that night.

His trial is set for November 16th.
