Students and faculty at Riverview Elementary School were decked out in hats today, all in an effort to support 6-year-old first grader Jack Knight and his family, whose home and belongings were destroyed in Friday's blaze.

"We just wanted to come together as a community and pull together as a school community, especially for Jack and his family. So we just came up with the idea of wearing a hat and everybody bringing in a dollar to donate to his family and support them, especially with the holidays coming up,” said Jack’s teacher, Becky McMickle.

So far, the students efforts have raised over $700 for the Knight family.

Mrs. McMickle says the school will continue to reach out and help jack and his family in whatever way they can.
