A 62-year old man is recovering in the hospital, after a dramatic rescue on a rock cliff near Sun Canyon Lodge.

Don Jones of Texas was hunting with friends from Great Falls, about twenty miles northwest of Augusta when he fell off his horse and had to be taken to the hospital.

According to Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton, friends of Jones called 911 about 12:30 Wednesday afternoon after he fell off his horse, injuring his shoulder to the point where he could not walk.

Mercy flight was not able to reach him, due to high winds in the area. Augusta ambulance, Lewis and Clark Search and Rescue, along with Lewis and Clark sheriff's deputies were able to rescue him and transport him to Benefis where he was listed in stable condition.
