750 Gallons of Diesel Spilled at Montana Refining Company

By Charlie Keegan

Clean up is underway after a diesel fuel spill at the Montana Refining Company's plant in Great Falls.

Dana Leach, the Vice President of Refining Operations, confirms 750 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled at the refinery's loading rack.

He says the cleanup is "pretty well done." Most of the fuel, according to Leach, stained the soil. To clean it up, he says the company will scoop up the dirt and replace it.

As part of the cleanup process, the Department of Environmental Quality was notified of the spill.

The fuel was contained to the loading rack and Leach says they're still investigating what caused the incident. He assures no fuel made it into the Missouri River.
