HELENA, Mont. - The body of a White Sulphur Springs soldier who died in Iraq of noncombat related injuries has returned to Montana.

Police vehicles escorted the silver hearse carrying 23-year-old Army Pfc. Michael Rogers' flag-draped casket from a Helena airport to a funeral chapel yesterday (Thursday). Members of the Montana Honor Guard unloaded the casket at the funeral home as family members watched and others stood by in salute.

The Department of Defense says Rogers died Nov. 27 at Forward Operating Base Hammer, east of Baghdad, and the circumstances surrounding his death are under investigation. He was assigned to the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, N.Y.

A funeral will be held at the Canyon Ferry Mansion chapel near Townsend today.
