The search for a missing East Helena man intensified Friday after a hat believed to be worn by the man was discovered Thursday.

It has been nearly one week since search and rescue workers began looking for 30-year old Darrel Dullum of East Helena, who was last seen leaving the Eagles Bar around 2 a.m. on Saturday. On Thursday afternoon a hat believed to be the one being worn by Dullum was discovered nearby.

Search and rescue crews spent Friday afternoon searching the area where the hat was located near a home on East Pacific Street. The hat was found on the ground by an East Helena resident who immediately contacted local officials. Although no official testing has been done on the hat, after showing it to Dullum's parents, detectives are almost certain it belongs to him. At this time crews are searching the area between U-S Highway 12 East and the Main Street Bridge, focusing on Prickly Pear Creek.

Lewis and Clark County Undersheriff David Rau explains, "At this point, what we're doing is, Search and Rescue is going through the ice, and we do have some dogs that are Search and Rescue dogs out there, and also we have some personnel that are cutting up the ice at this time."
