Senator Jon Tester is urging the President not to lose sight of rural America when it comes to rail service.

This week, the Obama Administration awarded grants to several states to build the nation’s first high-speed rail service, but those grants were awarded to create city-to-city service.

Tester says rural states like Montana connect America’s urban corridors.

He says investing in rural America’s transportation needs will result in more jobs and a stronger economy.

In a letter to Obama – Tester also said that transportation needs like these – quote – couldn’t be more crucial than they are now.

The grants are a part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
