Afternoon House Fire Leaves Family Homeless

It's been a busy weekend for Great Falls firefighters as another family is left homeless after a fire broke out at their home near 36th Street South and 2nd Ave South.

The call came in around 1 p.m. today, when people driving by saw smoke coming from the home. According to the family, they left to pick up their son from a sleepover. About 15 minutes later, they came back to see fire crews surrounding their house.

A dog was safely recovered from the home, but a cat died in the blaze.

The fire may have began in the basement of the home, but that has yet to be confirmed.
