New Choteau Coffee Shop Serves Up a Safe Hangout for Teens

The city of Choteau has beautiful scenery, attractions, and shops.

But some locals felt the one thing the town was missing was a safe late-night hangout welcome to all ages.

Bridges coffee house in downtown Choteau has been open less than two weeks.

But the new shop is already seeing a rush of kids after school and young adults studying late into the night.

That's exactly what Choteau High School mental counselors, Aaron and Rachel Skaggs, hoped to see when they and other team members began dreaming of opening a safe late night hangout for the community.

So the vision became to turn an old store front on Main Avenue into place were resident of all ages would be welcome. A coffee house seemed to be perfect fit.

While an idea had been in the works for years, the final plans for the shop came together almost five months ago. And so far, the response has been great.

Local teens are quickly becoming the shop's "regulars", but the staff says they've seen a range of people coming in for coffee and a warm place to gather.
