University of Great Falls Students Return Home After Spending Their Spring Break Supporting Haiti Relief Efforts

By KFBB News Team

Students at the University of Great Falls will be hitting the books Monday, after spending the past week on spring break. And for one group of students, that time was spent supporting the Haiti relief efforts.

The 14 students spent the past week in Seattle working at a warehouse loading medical supplies and clothes to send to Haiti. They also held a silent protest against human trafficking and worked with an organization that assists disabled adults. The students say it is an experience they will never forget.

Zachary Liedtke says, "I'm glad I spent my Spring Break over there. I had a lot of fun. Learned a lot about myself and about different organizations that may need our help out there." Whitney Kossman notes, "It was definitely eye opening. It kind of made us look beyond our own personal issues and just how many problems there are in Seattle, let alone Haiti."

Because of travel and housing limitations, the number of students that could take part in the trip this year was limited to just 14. UGF is hoping to make this an annual event and expand the number of students who can participate.
