Sand Coulee Fire: Kids Videotaping Themselves Setting Off Fireworks Start Grass Fire Near Great Falls

The Sand Coulee Fire Department says kids video taping themselves setting off fireworks started a grass fire that burned just East of Great Falls Sunday afternoon. The all came in around 3:00 PM Sunday near 41st Street South and 15th Avenue South. Sand Coulee, Black Eagle, Stockett Fire, and Great Falls Fire Rescue all responded to the blaze.

Sand Coulee Fire Chief Larry Butler says there were around three kids setting off fireworks that started the fire. The strong winds also made it difficult for crews fighting the blaze. Butler says one male was taken to the hospital by ambulance for smoke inhalation after trying to put out the blaze.

According to the mother of one of the kids, the fire was accidentally started while the kids were shooting a movie for their history class.

Not only should the parents get tickets for the fire works, they should also have to pay for any property damages caused by the fire and the time for the fire fighters coming out to rescue these law breakers.
